Last week I headed to Nevada for some appointments. For my first appointment I had intended to drive from our home in the morning on Wednesday but we had an impending storm coming that would have made it difficult for me to get over the mountains (and through the woods) because of the possibility of snow. I don't do snow so I called my friend Cathie and ask if she would mind me coming in Tuesday and spending the night at her house.
On her design wall she had a finished block from this quilt.
I fell in love. I truly enjoy paper piecing which this quilt is all about.
Cathie works at Going Batty in Reno and they are doing this BOM (block of the month).
I am not a big fan of BOM's because I don't like to wait each month for my block (Tracie are you taking notes?) but at Going Batty I could get all of my blocks at once so of course I succumbed and bought.
Yesterday after making a bunch of phone calls to try and set some appointments I gave up on the rejection and decided to sew.
So I played hooky from work and started the quilt.
I did decide to do my background in black instead of white and I am liking how it is turning out.
And so it begins.
My first block done.
This is what happens when you're not paying attention.
And this is how it's suppose to look.
The second block done.
Today I went back to making phone calls.
And on the Dear Jane front I now have 59 blocks completed.
What a gorgeous quilt, Annemieke.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think the black background is going to make this quilt breathtaking! Good choice! (Y.)
