Queen Mom

Years ago when my children were younger and I got tired of hearing "mom", "Mom",
"MOM" I would tell my children I was no longer answering to "mom" -  please address me as "Your Highness", "Your Majesty" or "Queen Mom".  I even needle pointed a pillow to make sure everyone in the house knew I was serious.

It did create a little bit of quiet for awhile.

Alas my children have grown but I still have my throne.
Actually it's more of a creative throne that I like to sit in and do my handwork.

As with all creative people we don't like to sit and work on one project at a time.  Different days means different projects so I like to surround myself with many choices.

Here we have a cowl I am currently knitting on along with some hand piecing for my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt.
Here is my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that I have been working on for over twenty years and finally close to being finished with the top and to the right not in the picture is a Christmas dishcloth I am knitting.  Never to early to start on those stocking stuffers.

And here we have the legs to another Mother Bear and to the left in the purple bag is a pair of socks I am knitting for someones birthday.

The weather here in Sacramento has been rather hot, for California in the 90's is hot,  and I have been enjoying sitting in my throne working on a little bit of this and that.

Sundays

Sundays I generally find myself working on my quilt blocks for Dear Jane.
Today I managed to make one more block.

I give you A3.

And since it is Easter Sunday I will share with you two more bears for Mother Bear.

Meet Andrea and Andy.

I decided I needed to step up my game and knit them cabled sweaters.

Playing Knitting Hookey

I started a pair of birthday socks in January that needed to be done by February and might have gotten a little sidetracked.

While I loved knitting them I found this cowl that was calling my name, the  Xena Cowl by Christina Wilkins.

I had some  gradient Warm Heart 2-ply sock yarn from Fishknits in the color way Jelly On Toast and I bought some Debbie Bliss Rialto 4 ply in black.

I do so love doing color work.

I did finish the socks also.
I was knitting for a size 13 shoe so the toes are out of some leftover sock yarn.
And now I'm working on bears for the Mother Bear Project.

Bear Sightings

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions on how to retrieve my needle.  Unfortunately we have still not been able to get it from under the deck.  The limited amount of space between the deck boards has made it hard to maneuver but we are still trying to recover it.  Thank goodness I had a set of five so I'm still able to knit socks with the four I have I'm just being a lot more aware of where I am knitting and any potential hazards.

On a happier note, today I boxed up another 14 bears I knit to ship to the Mother Bear project in Minneapolis.
These bears are given to children in Africa whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
Last year I knit eleven bears.
